Glad you like the pics, I enjoy taking the photographs when I have time.
I keep all my snakes in acrylic aquariums, it's not efficient for cleaning and space but I can walk into the room and quickly check on all my snakes without opening the individual cages. Also, when I have friends over, I can point to the snakes without actually removing them from the cage (unless they really want to hold it).
The substrate is walnut shell. A few people have warned me of bad reports using walnut shell, but I don't have any issues. I've used it without any problem for about 20 years. As you can see by the picture, the grain size is extremely small, so if ingested it passes thru the digestive tract even in small snakes. Yes they burrow into it, it is easy to clean up, it's easy to obtain, but it is a little on the expensive side.
I wouldn't recommend using walnut shell for any lizards, because they could ingest a ton of it and then it would likely cause impaction. Walnut shell is very hygroscopic, so I could see if an animal ingested enough of it, it could cause an issue...something to keep in mind.
I have a variety of cameras, my phone, a simple point and shoot Canon and for the better resolution pics I use a Canon 50D.
Believe it or not, it's not the camera as much as knowing how to use it. I usually just use my phone, it is much quicker.
