I'm looking for all information I can find regarding OPMV (paramyxovirus) in ball pythons. Most of the information I find is Crotalid-related, but this disease obviously affects balls as well. Questions of particular interest include: sterilization procedures of racks and cages (ie: does bleach kill it?), and exact routes of transmission. It seems to be aerosol, but does that mean that every animal in a room with an infected animal, even eliminating other vectors of transmission, should be considered exposed? Also, I have heard rumblings about its transmission to lizards and turtles as well. Obviously, quarantine and prevention are best, but what precautions have people found effective once OPMV has been found in a collection, short of killing the entire room?
I will continue looking for information for myself, but if someone has already invented this particular wheel, I would appreciate not having to do it all again.
thanks,
Nate.
