Leon, my male green anole, passed away yesterday afternoon in a very peaceful way. Some of you folks probably have heard about a dying anole that I've posted in 9/16. If you want to read it, click here.



Leon was 6 years old before he died. He was 8 in. stl, and he grew really fast in 2 years. I remembered him shedding at least 6 times a month. It was insane, when you notice shedded skins all over the substrate floor. He dominated over all other anoles in his cage. He had mated many times with other females. He was the healthiest anole I've ever seen in my life, and I never saw any green anoles looking healthy and big as him. He was only 6 1/2 in. long when I first got him more than 3 years ago. He was one of my first reptiles.



I was hoping that Leon would live longer, but unfortunately, 6 years was all he could bear. And a month before, he refused to eat or drink anything I offered. He wasn't stressed or sick looking. He looked really ancient, unlike the expression he had when I first saw him in Petco. He was green most of the time, and a month before he died, he didn't eat or drink anything. He barely moved at all. I think he was dreading the day he's going to die. But then, just before yesterday, I noticed him lying on floor, breathing faintly, with bright green coloration but black patches behind his eyes. The next day, he was still alive in the morning, but seemed to be in a deep sleep. When I arrived home from school, he was in the same spot, but this time, he didn't move a muscle. I then knew that he was gone off to a better place. I really miss him. Wish he's still here. To see a picture of him, click here. It's the best picture of him I have taken.
