A friend of mine feeds her cat Special Kitty Regular (Walmart's equivalent to blue bag Purina Cat Chow). Her cat is now about 16 and is doing very well. I am an advocate for premium for my cats, but primarily because I need to watch certain ingredients for Stanley and his urinary problems. Female cats don't seem to have as many problems on store brands as males (males are more prone to urinary problems if they are neutered).



With that said, I know of many family/friends cats that have lived to 16 or 17 and one to 24 on grocery store available foods (Purina Cat Chow, etc...)



Julie's female is doing fabulously on Special Kitty Regular.
