>>From everything I have read, cat nip is supposed to "relax" a cat and make he/she playfull. Well it seems to have an opposite effect on my cat. Once he gets the cat nip, he immediatly starts to growl and hiss, he will not let you near him or the cat nip ball, but as soon as you take it away, he is back to normal, its so strange. Has anyone else had this problem??

>> Thanks...

My cat, Samantha, has a tendency to get very aggressive when she has catnip. Since I have 4 cats, I'll give each cat a little pile of it on the floor and Samantha will first eat some and then sniff and roll around in it. Then she puts her fat body on it and watches the others to make sure that they are not going to steal it from her. I saw her once, jump up and bite poor Simba in the ear, just because he glanced at her. He learned his lesson and now just flatly refuses to partake in catnip.

I liken her behavior to a 'mean drunk'. I'm sure that you've all seen one or two of them. Like alcohol and people, cats react differently to catnip. I've read that some cats will have no reaction at all. It depends on the cat and it's genetic makeup.

How wonderful to do nothing and then rest afterwards. Meow!
