My kitten and my moms cat...

What is the best way to introduce my 6 week old kitten and my moms 2 year old cat? I brought the kitten over today for a visit but my moms cat didnt like him one bit. His tail got big and he was hissing at the kitten. I need to know because my mom is going to be passing away soon and I will be taking care of her cat after that happens.
