cat-wild animals relationship

A couple nights ago when I opened the door to let my cat in, I saw him playing around with another cat and a racoon. I found this really strange because I never heard of cats playing with wild animals. The other day he was playing around, running and chassing a skunk. It seemed like they were having fun and it didn't bother the skunk because my cat didn't get sprayed. This happened the last night again. I find this behaviour really strange and haven't heard of anything.
