Our cat eats clothing and blankets!

Our 17 month old cat has been eating holes (big ones) in soft fuzzy type materials like polor fleece blankets and sweatshirts. It started with shoelaces. We have tried changing her food, offered new toys and we now close her out of rooms. Any suggestions?
