need advice on adopting persian

I posted in the PERSIAN category for my full scenario. I am considering adopting a 6 (he is probably older ) Persian who is grumpy at times. I have a wonderful 3 yr old neutered female cat for 6 mos now. I feel drawn to take this persian cat but am getting remarks like 'you can.t save every cat. Advice please.
