A good cleaning with a solution of bleach and water should get rid of most bacteria. Some things are airborne and harder to treat. You might check with your vet's office to see what they recommend.



In my opinion, if the neighbor agreed to care for the cat, then she needs to move the cat to her house and provide proper food and care. The cat is staying around your house as it's the home he knows. It's unfortunate that the cat's owner didn't make more of an effort to see that the cat would have a good home and care.
