12 year old cat not eating

My cat has suddenly stopped eating and drinking. I was layed off from my job so I have no money for vet. I am trying to find a way but in the meantime I have been giving her something called Vitagravy mixed with some water which I am force feeding. Is this okay for the time being. She seems to accept the feeding after a few seconds and seems to be a little stronger after I give her this. Any other recommendations. She is also getting a lot of love and attention.
