My friend needs help with her mommy kitty!

since last night the cat has been taking 2-3 kittens out of the box and just leaving them on the floor over by the flush, and she will feed the ones in the box, She has done this 3 times already but my friend put them back in the box, if she does it again should my friend just start feeding them herself?
