The story of Murray

I first noticed Murray hanging around my apartment complex with some other stray cats. He caught my eye because he was a big, beautiful Siamese. I said hello to him and the other strays, not thinking much of it. But that must have made a big impression on Murray, because he decided I was someone worth getting to know.

One night when I came home, Murray rushed inside my apartment when I opened the door, and he ran right to the refrigerator. I had nothing in the house suitable to feed a cat except lunch meat. He ate the whole pack, he was so hungry. I left the door to the apartment open so he could leave at any time. But instead he settled in with me in the living room to watch some TV. When bedtime came, he still showed no signs of departing, so I just closed the door and let him stay. I still wasn't sure if I would keep him, though.

Nevertheless, I bought some cat stuff (litterbox, food, etc.) the next day, and the day after that, I took him to the vet for a checkup and shots. Murray had an allergic reaction to the shots, and he had to be rushed to the animal ER, it being the weekend. They gave him an IV and some Benadryl. When I visited him in the hospital and saw him looking so vulnerable, with his little paw shaved for the IV, my heart just melted and I knew I had to keep him, even though my apartment complex didn't allow pets.

Murray has been the joy of my life ever since he began living with me, nearly four years ago, and I'm so glad he chose me, out of all the people in the world, to move in with.
