glucosamine

Hi there. My cat's right front leg will occasionally shake when he is standing for a long period of time. He's 12. I'm assuming this is early arthritis? Will glucosamine help? If so, how much do i use? I bought some capsules but I'm not sure how much (if any) I should add to his food. Is there anything else that will help?
