I have never kept YT, but I have had snakes that changed color.
I had a Colombian Rainbowboa (E.c.maurus) whose sides and back were usually brown (basically one solid color) but occasionally would be pale gray/brown instead, providing a marked contrast to the back. This color change had nothing to do with the shed cycle or the lighting in the room. I think it was more likely to be gray-sided at night.
I have also had African Housesnakes that went from dark olive green to a very light shade of green, again with no correlation to shed cycle or lighting. ----- Chris Harrison
