I've seen extremely large female Boa constrictor who did not climb per se, but did utilize elevated platforms. Most adult boas seem inclined to use elevated platforms but avoid perching on limbs or branches. But one does not need to provide much extra height in order to install an elevated platform. I think many of the Boaphile cages have them even if they're not tall cages.



However, I'm hardly an expert on this species. I assume you've posted this on the Boa forum?



I think elevated platforms and subfloor are an excellent way to provide additional "effective" cage space when dealing with the various forms of Boa constrictor.



In my opinion the only potential drawback to building a cage taller than necessary having to heat it.
