i have used plexiglass and made a series of partitions, each sucessively higher, and filled THE SPACES BETWEEN them with large stones (and yes, gravel) thisallows for a slope and full control over the water land boundary.



you can also use plexiglass or use real glass to build an island or a peninsula and fill with soil and moss and live plants if you wish.



if you use really thick glass this workls well.
