Java moss will grow terrestrially if kept damp all of the time. It grows incredibly under the 50/50 blues/reds fluorescents that I use. Irish moss is a grass and will not grow under tropical conditions. "Tropical pillow moss" available from several online suppliers grows very well in vivarium conditions, with sufficient lighting. If you find someone who sells an epiphytic tropical moss, please let me know. Using temperate moss species is acceptable, just remember that this will die off under vivarium conditions and will need to be replaced; fine if its free, but rather time consuming. Hope this helps. ----- David Knight
