Bearded Dragon Cage

Im planing on building a new cage for my bearded dragon that i have now and one im getting soon,I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for the size and type of material to use. I was thinking about a cage 8`l x 2`h x 2`w divided in the middle to seperate them cause i have a male now and im getting a female.does that sound like a good size?I was thinking about useing melamine i have used it before to make my snake cages and like that would it be good for a beardie? thanks steve
