I don't like mesh due to the inability to retain humidity. Tokays like about 60-80% humidity. This is even a worst problem in the winter.

I have a female tokay extremely happy in a 20 gallon aquarium; I had her for several years and she won't attempt to leave it even with the lid off. But then again she's pretty tame and she walks or jumps on me from time to time and has never attempted to bite me (I never pick her up--i let that be her decision if she wants on me or not).

At least for her a 20 gallon is suitable, but maybe not for other tokays who aren't as tame as mine. Since most tokays are not tame, most likely it's 50 gallons PER tokay

In other words two tokays require a 100 gallon tank.

PLANTS: I like plastic ones purchased at pet stores.

SUBSTRATE: Bed-A-Beast! It retains moisture, and no danger of impaction. Do NOT purchase a cheap substitute-only bed-a-beast will do!

LIGHT: If you can maintain about 85 degrees...a 100 watt bulb puts out a LOT of heat and could crack the plexiglass and cook your tokay. 40 watts is probably better -- if it's very cold use two 40 watt bulbs on both sides of the top.-- let a therometer in the tank be your guide. but i have no idea how safe light bulbs are on plexiglass.

Plexiglass also scratches. glass is the idea thing to use.

Can I house an adult male tokay in a cage thats 48x24x24in.? I think it's a 65 gallon mesh reptarium. I'm going to silicone 2 of the insides with plexiglass.

What type of plants should I use?

What's the BEST substrate I should use?

A 100watt red heat bulb should be enough for heat, right?
