The way I've had best success is by keeping the baby crix in some sort of substrate (peat moss) for the first week or two of their lives. Keep it moist also by misting it every day. After that, they can handle less humidity better and can be taken out of the substrate. I keep about a third of the bin peat moss, a third open (for food) and a third full of egg crates.
