Well, i just went through the same with my Ball Python female..same symptons, but she also whistled.
But there was no mucous, and her throat looked absolutely normal.
The vet gave me baytril, to be injected every 3rd. day for 5 days.
While i treated her i found out about lungworms. I don't know if they would show up in a fecal (the vet couldn't get a fecal out of my female, since she had already defacated and hadn't eaten since..).
But since i had the liquid/safe form of Panacur at home, i researched the recommended dosage for lungworms and went ahead and treated her with that twice..10 days apart.
Well, after about 7 to 8 days she completely returned to normal and has been eating ravenously.
I have no idea if it was the antibiotic or the panacur doing the trick..
During this time i had her in a quaranteen cage, complete privacy and in a quiet location. I upped the heat and cut out all humidity. (made sure she had water all the time, though)
Well, i don't know if this helps you at all..
good luck ----- reps-r-us
