Timor monitors like any other monitor should be kept on dirt, several inches to a foot or more if you can because they love to dig and burrow. They like to hide so much you will probably not see them for up to 2 weeks at a time if they choose to. They are nervous, flighty, fast, great climbers, have razor sharp claws, can and will bite which draws blood. They are very secretive usually roaming around with nobody around. They love eating crickets, mice, roaches, etc. As a young timor they need to eat evry other to every day to grow normal and healthy. Basing temps on one end of the cage should be 130 degrees (surface temps), with a gradient that drops to about 70. Humidity is important so a cage that has a solid top, no wire screens as they allow it to dry out fast. My single male timor is in a cage 4 feet long with a plexiglas top with small venting. If you buy one check for a Captive Bred a Born monitor they fair so much better and the prices are dropping towards $100. Personally Ive looked at Prehistoric Pets animals as being pricy and not very good quality. Someone advertised CBB Timor hatchlings on Varanus.net in the classifieds. Ordering one from a reputable individual is best but too many pet suppliers sell wild caught animals as captive born. As a hobby I do internet transactions for a friends business in reptiles. Im still amazed what some places sell the animals that they buy so cheaply from someone else. It a shame Pro exotics doesnt sell them because Id tell you to get one there because their animals are top notch. Get a yellow ackie from them, might be a much better choice in the end.
