So far the Cottonheads have been much more spirited than any of my baby Copperheads or Cottonmouths. They don't strike at anything that moves, but if you get too close they launch themselves at you. In fact their whole body leaves the ground when they strike. When I was taking pictures of the the snake I posted here it launched itself and landed on the lens of my camera I hate it when they do that! As far as the venom goes I don't really know. I usually feed prekilled but the live hoppers I fed them were dead instantly after the strike. This may be more indicative of good fang placement rather than venom potency. I have not noticed them spending an inordinate time in their waterbowls either. Here is another pic of the body looking down on the snake.
