stink bugs? really? anyone else to verify this?
sotik - my mealworm bins also have that light smell... it's not strong at all but it bugs me too i also replace my gutload every 2 weeks and change the carrot every 3 or 4 days - everything's still dry... so i dont know what it is either
xelda & sotik - you guys are just too funny AND i agree with sotik that, whether you use your hand, a plastic fork, or chopsticks - it takes forever to sift through the gutload and work with what you need

>>Mealworn beetles are capable of secreting a foul smelling fluid when they feel threatened to discourage predation. If your beetles are killing one another the victim may secrete this in an effort to escape. Maybe this is what you are smelling? I don't know if you are familiar with darkling beetles (aka stink bugs), but mealworms are in the same family and the smell secreted by both beetles is similar.
