For Slate/Ceramic Tile users

I want to put either slate or ceramic tiles as a substrate for my leos tanks, I had a few questions.



Which type should I use: slate, ceramic or someother type? why?



How do you get them to form a tight fit? I would hate having gaps and it seems very dificult not to get at least some gaps?
