The best substrate for Uros is a mix of soil/sand. You want something that will hold in enough moisture for them to dig tunnels. Make sure your enclosure is large enough to have a deep substrate. Birdseed should be avoided as a substrate. It is imposible to burrow in and will harbor molds and fungus. Plus eating seeds they poop in cant be that good.....
