Saw the post about the diggable substrate. I think what I'm going to try in this new cage is a combination shelf liner and "dirt tub." I'm going to get a rubbermaid bin, fill it with a clay-sand mixture, let it dry and then cut a whole in the side as the front of the burrow. Then I'll dig a little bit out to start the burrow and let Boulder do the rest. We'll see how it works out...



I am almost done with the cage. I'm still testing temperatures but I think I may do a 160 watt powersun in the winter and switch to a 100 watt in the summer. Right now I have a 100 watt household light in there to see how the cage retains heat. Here's an updated picture. Sorry it's all scrappy I had to take many pictures and piece them together to get it all in one shot. I'll post some pictures of Pebbles as soon as I get her next week!
