Yeah, my guess is that (as with many other "home remedies" the patient would have recovered anyway. That's how a lot of the remedies get started...someone tries something as a remedy on a patient that would have recovered without treatment and because the patient lived, they figure the treatment must have worked....unless, of course, the treatment kills a patient that would have otherwise lived. The real danger to this kind of thing is that often real treatment is delayed or foregone while home remedies are used and a patient that could have lived with real treatment dies because of it.
