Dennis-
One minute will mist quite a bit in a small cage. You will get the hang of it after you play around with it. I notice my chameleons will mainly drink in the morning after the first mist. The others are for keeping up humidity, mine stays from 90%-72%. I also have the times set so that there is some dry time then it mists things down, so it is not always wet it the cage.
I don't mist my chameleons before or after the lights go out. I don't want the cages to be wet at night, and the last mist before the light go out keep the humidity up at night. It was 90% today. Do you have a digital thermometer/Humidity gauge? They will give you a much more accurate reading of things, Walmart sells them, I have one that is wireless, paid $40 for it. Yes it may rain @ night in the wild, but not every night. If you put it on a timer then it rains every night!
Hope this helps! ----- John
