Ten years ago, MJ paid off a kid and therefore they dropped all charges and he didn't have to face a trial. The laws have changed since then. Even if MJ pays the kid off and they drop the charges, the state can still prosecute if they believe they have enough evidence to do so.
The information about the "love letters" came from a British tabloid. So far, it hasn't been backed up by anyone else, but I'm not following it that closely. My news may be old news by now.
I respect rodmalm's opinions, but believe he may be wrong in some of his reasoning (though he retracted that reasoning when he mentioned the letters they found). He stated that if MJ wanted to do evil things with children, he could go to any number of foriegn countries to do so. True enough. But I don't think we're talking about an ordinary pedophile here. There may be sickos out there who plan ways to get their kicks and would look into those countries where it is easier or even legal to do so. But Michael isn't like that, I don't think. I'm not defending his actions in the least, but I really do think they stem from a totally different psychosis. He's "looking for love" and probably genuinely cares about the kids he comes in contact with...if in a twisted sort of way. Maybe he thinks kids are more innocent and therefore more capable of loving him for who he really is, rather than because he is a super-celebrity with a crazy amount of money. He then "falls in love" with such a kid.......blah blah blah....no need to speculate the details there.
Anyhow...I do believe he's capable of such a thing, for the reasons I've stated. I do believe he should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but I also hope he recieves some serious psychological counseling as well. (Although I doubt it'd change anything about him.)
Just my input for the day.
