you can typically find alot of nice driftwood along any shoreline. Also, appropriately sized tree branches work well, though you may have to affix them to a base to ensure they are stable even if heavy dragons are out on a limb. Just soak the branch/driftwood in a bleach solution (one part bleach to 10 parts water is the concentration i beleive is recommended) over night, then in plain water for another day, then air dry. Alternatively, you can bake the branches in the oven at about 250 F for a few hours.

If neither shore or bush is near where you live, your next alternative would be parks. However, most cities frown about removing branches from living trees, but depending on how good the grounds keepers are, you may find branches on the ground that are suitable.
