I bought a 50# bag for like.. $8... and use that is the simplest substrate... if you want to make your own I used to use ground up dog food, rabbit pellets, instant potato flakes.. crushed whole grain cereals.. (bran flakes, oatmeal, corn flakes.. cheerios etc) and add about a teaspoon of reptile vitamins (with clacium) to the mix... feed veggies every 2 or 3 days... and don't clean... cleaning is bad with mealies.. you lose more that way... I did a total cleaning every 4 months or so and saved the remaining substrate until I was sure all eggs had hatched and been removed. | ||
