Well, I don't know for sure and I'm not going to say it's right but I've read from a few sources that in green basilisks if you keep them on a varied diet it can keep them much bluer than green...so we figured we'd feed the chameleons we have a varied diet of waxworms, crickets, mealworms, superworms, giant mealworms, grasshoppers, ficus and pothos.
I'm not an expert but after we started giving her a diet of many different bugs and plants her and the other chameleons seem to develop brighter fuller colors...also with UV bulbs up top it keeps their skin brighter...I've heard from many people that they do not use UV bulbs but I would never try that...it seems to beneficial to all reptiles in some way.
I don't know that's just my opinion I could be wrong...
