flacky white in ear lob?

I was sitting in the living room on the rocking chair tonight with my Mali and my sister came up to pet him....well, i had noticed it before but never thought it to be a problem untill she brought it up tonight......anyways....were his left ear is....there is some white stuff....i dont have a clue wether its just there like a build up or something or if its just part of him....anyways...its kinda off white and flacky looking....i pressed on the side of his head some and he didnt show any signs of pain or anything but the left side of his head looks bigger right there.......I just wanted to get yalls opinion before i decide to take him to the vet......Anyone know what im talking about here?....its been there for awhile....it just never triggered any alarm or anything...thanks
