Posted by: M.L.B. at Fri Nov 28 20:56:52 2003 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by M.L.B. ] i have a bottle envirotex in my cupboard never used it yet but my other bought it a pat cattan craft store the price was 25 dollars.they say when it drys it's safe. but in all the cages i have built up to now i have used oil base polyurethane. only bad point about the poly is that it took about a month to cure.thats the oil base poly now not the water base poly others have said that it cures faster the oil base poly. but i have noticed this oil base products stand up to the test of time over the water base products yah it takes longer to cure and use the cage but it last a long time and seals the wood very good.heck when one cage was curing from the poly i left it outside in the rain and the only thing that happend to that cage was all the water beaded up in fact it held a inch of rain water inside the cage and it did not hurt the wood at all . one thing a suggest is when i build a wood cage i use silicion caulk on all the joints let it dry a day then poly over top of that the poly helps protect the caulk from when you clean and scrub the cage. hope this helps [ Hide Replies ]
