Calci-sand is pure calcium and will not hurt your snake if ingested. I use it in all of my tarantula cages and in a few of my copperhead cages. A friend of mine uses calci-sand in most of his snake cages at his pet store. red sand looks kinda neat with a baby ball python. Hope this helps.
