I've found that using sphagnum moss--which is peat moss that is un-processed (un-milled) is a good sterile moisture retentive media. Regular peat moss works well, too; or a combination of both should work.



I would be concerned about the green pus & the inflammation of the cloacal-vent. That is not normal & could be a sign of a gastro-intestinal infection. It may be a good idea to have a fecal analysis for bacteria/parasites done.
