RE: regular light bulb VS reptile heat bulb

What does the clear bulb have above the frosted bulb? Does it just produce more heat? I find that it takes a 200 watt frosted bulb to get the temp 90-100 degrees. I haven't tried clear. Would I be able to get the same heat from a lower wattage bulb if it doesn't have the frost on it, or is there something else I should know?
