I did all summer - pansies, dandelions, cat's claws, and nasturtiums. I will have an outdoor lizard garden next year, but don't have a good house for growing flowers. Way too dark. You can buy edible flowers at natural food stores in the summer, too, but it's WAY cheaper to grow your own.
