Hi Sallei,
Why do you keep him in a dark box??????
When we get our chams out for "house cleaning", we give them a tree to climb on (in the sunlight, if a good day). We have a couple of small maple trees, and a large umbrella, and a dracena that work indoors or out. We make it an adventure - not a dreaded experience.
Do you hand feed your cham treats? We use wax worms, silkworms, hornworms - as treats. This makes the cham less afraid of the hand. We highly recommend trying this. Just open the cage door, and offer a treat. If he is hungry... he will take it. Have patience - it might not work the first time... it make take several tries. If he absolutely won't take from the palm of your hand - offer the treat on a small plastic tub lid. After he gets used to that, you can switch to trying your hand again.
Hope this helps,
