Why are you putting him in a dark box when you clean his cage? You should make cage cleaning fun for your chameleon, buy putting him on a tree outside the cage. If the weather is good in your area, take him outside in the tree while you clean. Put some treats in the tree like silkworms, you can get them @ www.mulberryfarms.com and on ebay. Once your done cleaning the cage and put him back in, try and hand feed him another treat. Everytime I take my chameleons out of there cages, they ALWAYS get a treat once they go back in the cage. Once your chameleon gets use to this there should not be any problmes. I have a wild Ambilobe panther that will jump on to my arm when I put it in the cage, and he runs up my arm on to my shoulder and then I put him outside in his tree. Hope This helps!
