It is possible to breed corns without cooling them at all, but still providing a reduced photoperiod. This method is not always reliable though, so for more cosistent results it is a good idea to cool them for at least 8 weeks. 6 weeks will probably work, but you may be presented with small clutches or high infertility ratios.

On a side note, I have produced large, viable clutches of eggs by cooling only the males while continuing to feed the females.

This is not my standard practice, but I was curious to see what kind of results I would yield.
