Couple things to think about with this. I used to house my iguana outside all summer as the temps allowed in Upstate NY. But the last couple of years I haven't and here is why.



The ig really seemed to benefit from the sunlight....cool. But snakes won't nearly as much...so that isn't really the point.

The ig came back in each fall and got demited. Yes, it was always covered in mites and I would get my vet to ivermect it...as that was the simplest. And this ig was in a cage NOT readily available to outside animals.

You have to monitor temps very closely. Even if you are only going for an hour or something a day....make sure it is at temps the snake has been at and wants to get. That means finding a good range area with shade etc and on days the wind is not as much a factor.

You also gotta consider predators....neighborhood cats etc.

With some folks that have had adeno viruses strike the monitors they kept outside I had a talk with my vet. He didn't know if herps could get West Nile virus or some of the others and after we talked we really thought that the benefits (even for a UV needing herp) were not worth the risks.

Just thoughts.
