I would rather use these for non-heat emitting fluoresent bulbs for viewing display animals and provide a hot spot using another method. Other than wiring another set of light sockets on the other end and using potentially dangerous exposed bulbs or ceramic heaters (the units will house snakes), I was wondering if heat tape could be placed directly in the cage on one side. Can the tape be placed inside a cleanable material that will prevent damage to the tape and be cleaned of excrement, etc.? I was thinking about placing the tape inside PVC pipe with caps on the ends to keep critters out. Kind of like a "heat tube". Maybe a small set of holes drilled to dissipate heat out and prevent major heat buildup (also, the tape set on a thermostate or rheostate for safety). That and the fact I already have a bunch of three inch heat tape and clip connectors. Any suggestions?????? | ||
