I purchased my ball python in May 2003 and it was about the same size as yours. Now its 26 inches long and its girth is about 2 inches across. I feed mine 1 adult mouse twice a week, usually Saturday and Wednesday.
If possible, do not house them together. Some people do, but snakes are solitary animals. They may become stressed if forced to live together. If one is lunging at the other, then it's probably not a good idea to house them together. If you have them in separate tank already, keep them that way. They'll probably be much less stressed.
