You made it sound like she is sort of afriad of snakes... If so, I don't see her jumping into rattlers. If proper protocol were being followed, the type of thing you just said shouldn't really be an issue. You'd be putting yourself at risk, sure... but a visitor to your house? If you've got this much doubt right now, maybe you should take the time you're giving yourself to rethink things a bit. Am I way off here?
