No, I wouldn't say you were way off, but maybe a bit. She's not "afraid" of snakes, but has rather never been around them before, other than native colubrids in the yard. However, I am one of those who thinks of "worst case" before it happens-a What If, you know? I got to thinking, WHAT IF there was an escape-I know, it should never happen, but it does. I think that everybody here would agree that if this were to happen it's a safer situation if all the adults in the household know how to handle the animal in question instead of just one. You never know who finds the missing animal, and whether someone gets hurt or not, nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes.
