I just wanted to share this photo of my first midget faded, I found her on my way back from California en route to West Virginia. I had been dreaming of the day I would find a concolor and this trip represented a detour of several hundred miles. When we arrived in late afternoon it was extremely hot and with evening coming up in a few hours, my best chances were to hunt the road. The elevation of course meant that it was going to cool down fast and although we made several passes around the western side of the gorge, I held out little hope of seeing one. At around 10:30 7/2/03 despite the cool weather and heavy winds,stretched out in the oncoming lane, the unmistakable form of a small rattlesnake. Unfortunately the snake was illuminated by a set of uncoming headlights as well.... Well fortune smiled on me again a mere 300 yards down the road. laying there on the shoulder of the black-top was a second midget faded, a small snake with beautiful pastel hues and surprisingly vivid markings in comparison to the only other live specimen i had seen. The exhiliration was great and blah, blah ,blah, I got some photos, and took the mangled carcass of the first animal back with me,in order to photograph it in more detail. I will post other photos of the first snake and habitat as well. Tom wetzel
