I have experience with keeping checkered whiptails and racerunners. A 10 gallon tank would be fine for 2 nice sized adults. I use sand as a substrate, a make a hide box from a frame of twigs and tehn put mud all over the frame like adobe. set it in the sun and it will dry hard as rock. And just place it in the sand. They also need a water dish, at least one desert looking shrub, a sick or rock to sit on while sunning. Now my tank i have rigged to fit right up in the window so i dont need a heat lamp, i just let the sun heat the cage. And walk by from time to time just to make sure they are not overheating. However, they can take very hot temps, and love it. From my personal experience with these lizards they eat crickets, moths, grubs, spiders, and i have never tryed waxworms but i'm sure that would work great. And they should be fed once or twice a week. If you are not gonna put the tank in the window than just use a heat lamp with a 75 watt bulb in it.
